  5K Course Overview
Our 5K participants are special, too, and get their own start time and course! You’ll start on Stafford Street, and – whee! – down a short steep hill into the Rodeo Arena parking lot. At the end of the lot, the course narrows as runners head down a short trail segment and make a left onto Leidesdorff Street. Midway down the street, the course makes a right onto another brief trail segment, and another right onto the historic Powerhouse Trail. From there you’ll cross the historic wood-plank Truss Bridge and make a left onto the lovely American River Bike Trail. Follow the trail into Negro Bar parking area and the official course turnaround. And here’s the “nature” part: the American River trail corridor is home to lots of wonderful wild animals, trees, flowers and plants. You’re considered a visitor in their home, so please remain on the marked trails at all times and respect the environment. Need some added incentive? Poison oak is found along many stretches of the trail, so remember: “leaves of three, let them be.”

After the turnaround, retrace your steps on the return jaunt, but make a left as you re-enter the Rodeo Arena parking lot and follow the gravel pathway. This trail segment transitions to packed earth (some call it dirt), and travels into Folsom City Lions Park to the finish line.

A bit confused by the twists and turns of the course? No worries, and no need to run with flashcards (which would totally cut into your personal best!). We’ll have lead cyclists, lots of course markers, and plenty of volunteer course marshalls directing runners – and walkers – every step of the way.
